NetSupport Manager Named to SearchNetworking.com's 2003 Products of the Year
NetSupport Manager Nets Silver in Performance Management Software Category ALPHARETTA, GA – January 29, 2004 – The editors of TechTarget’s SearchNetworking.com have named NetSupport Manager remote control software to its “2003 Products of the Year”. NetSupport Manager nets the silver award in the Performance Management Software category for its cross platform support, straightforward remote connections, enhanced inventory capabilities and reasonable price. The awards were judged by a panel of industry experts, including the editors of TechTarget’s SearchNetworking.com, a select group of users, and independent industry analysts, with input from SearchNetworking.com members. Judges selected the “Products of the Year” from among products announced and shipped between September 30, 2002 and October 1, 2003. For previously available products, the upgrade must incorporate new features, designed to meet new or evolving needs in the marketplace. According to the editors, “the selected products represent the best products in the industry”. Among criteria used to select the industry’s best products were innovation, performance, ease of integration, ease of use, functionality and value. “NetSupport clinches our Silver Award in the performance management software category for its NetSupport Manager (NSM) 8.0 remote control and inventory software.” the editors wrote, “Most outstanding to our judges was the tool's ability to control Macintosh and Linux desktops from a Windows-based PC, as long as the system has a previously installed virtual network-computing client. Connecting appears to be straightforward using NSM. Its Internet gateway facilitates direct remote control between PCs that may both be located behind different firewalls, locating and handshaking via HTTP without the need for modifications to existing firewall configurations. Administrators can also connect over IPX/SPX, NetBIOS or TCP/IP, or over dial-up for non-networked machines. Enhanced inventory capabilities collect detailed system information about the hardware of the client PC, installed applications, applications in memory, processes running, installed services, and all installed hot-fixes.
